Do spacers affect performance?

I really like the look of the Z06 wheels, and plan on getting them for my camaro eventually. I also want my car to handle as good as possible. I'm getting all Spohn suspension parts, eventually a rollcage and LS1. My question is, will having the spacers up front affect how the car will perform. I will be gettign a different rear end so i won't need the spacers in the back. Thanks

I was running 2.25" spacers all around and didn't notice any ill effects. Car handled great with the new 17" wheels and 275/40 rubber.

the spacers wont effect your performance but they do put a lot more stress on your wheel bearings. the spacers postion the wheels furhter outward of the wheelwell. This is what I have heard. If it is indeed true then the wheel bearings will not live as long.

So, would wheels like the ROH Snypers that are made for the thirdgens cause more stress on the wheel bearings as well?

its not the wheel spacers themselvers that put more stress on the bearings,

by making the wheels wider, there is more wheel outboard of the centerline of the hub.....this is what puts more stress on the beairngs.

using spacer is just artificially duplicating the backspacing that would be required to install the wheel.

like for example, if you welded the wheel spacer to the wheel....it would be the same thing as a wheel made that width with the required backspacing.

so its the overall width of the wheel, especially outboard of the center of the hub, that would put more strain on the bearings...

but in general its not a huge problem to worry about

if you plan to use spacers no, if you are going to use adapters which will be the likely case then yes and no.

i personally didn't like them but that's me. are you going 18 or 17's all around? i have a custom set of adapters to fit the 18's up front for sale if your looking.

good luck.
