EASY way to get control arm bolts back in...

Is there any easy way? I'm halfway through the SFC install. I had help on the first one but my Dad left and getting this second bolt back in is such a PITA.

how do u have the car jacked up? it should swing back in if u did one side at a time.

use like a small thin pry bar and stick it through the other side and try to pry them together.

you can also try a pry bar or adjustable wrench on the control arm, or whatever, and try to rotate it into place. if it's a sholder type bolt, and it should be, there's often only one side it'll work in because of the diameter change in the bolt. a BFH helps get the bolt through too.

Front tires are on ramps and jackstands holding the rear up. They do swing back and forth but the control arm moved back. When I swing it back into place, it's a good 1/4" back. I've been just prying it forward with a 4" punch.

I was under the impression that the frame should be supported when the LCA bolts are removed. Isn't it possible that the rear end could get pushed back and fall off the stands? That may be an exageration.

I would place the frame on jackstands with a jack under the axle when removing the bolts. Then when the subframe connectors are bolted in the rear, I would put the jackstands under the axle.

This is probably to late to help you but for any future searches. With the car supported by jackstands under the framerails put your floor jack under the differential, you will notice that by raising or lowering your axle it will move the alignment of the holes in and out, I fought with my control arms for an hour before the lightbulb came on after that it was a breeze.

Like was said above, put the stands on the rear frame rails and the rear end on a jack, that way you can push the rear in or out to get the LCA bolts to line up.

Just dont hammer the bolt in . you'll just mess up the threads on the bolt.

Awesome color

Just wanted to tell BOTTLEDZr28 that the color of your car is beautiful. I have a 91RS which will be painted this spring. It is currently maroon and I don't care for it. A friend was over and suggested a more modern color. He suggested a silver color like my Trailblazer. I made up my mind when I saw your car, hope you don't mide if I copy.

Looks great !

THanks for the compliments. Yes I mind and no I dont. You see, I use to have a silver 91z28 just like my current one about 7 years ago and it was the first 3rd gen painted in the new silver color and more and more people started painting it the same color and I started getting mad but now it dont matter
