Any down side?

To sub frame connectors? I searched and heard good things, but anything else I should know about?

the only thing i can think of is the weight, but the benefits far outweight the negative in this case.

Weight and that is it. But what you do gain is astronomical. The only dissadvantage is not getting them.

The packing list on my Spohn ones say 28lbs. Take them out of the box and get rid of all the paper work and newspaper wrapping and you are looking at 27 lbs or so. So really not going to change your HP to weight ratio by any significant factor.

Just out of curiosity, do the majority of subframe connecters need to be welded in or?

There are a lot of "bolt-in" SFCs out there, but everyone will tell you to weld them in anyway. Bolt holes can stretch over time (especially in sheetmetal like our floorpans,) and the connectors will get loose and no longer serve a purpose. When welded, the only way they can get loose is if you cut them off. You can also stitch-weld them to the floorpan all the way along the length for even better stiffening.
