what is proper brake line thread?

I bought a 3/16 i believe guy said was diouble flare end to it from autozone. I took car to get bled and they saying line needsb e replaced $150 he said its metric line and i didnt use metric line he said. I looked through some posts on here and see mention of something called bubble flare is this correct? He said he had two lines and the one i choose looked closer to original then other. The treads seemed to fit pretty well for me didnt see problem but the end that hooks up to master cyl/prop valve seems leak lil from the part where pipe and thread meet. Did i just maybe get a bad line but right size? Thanks in advance

you need to say what you have. most if not all thirdgens have a bubble flare and not a double. you'd know by looking at the two. double has a flare at the end, boubble is back a little from the end. bubble is metric threads. it beleive all flare threads are standard threads ,either american or metric as the case may be.

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The 82 and 83 used standard fittings and double flares; 84-up used metric with the bubble flares. There are an assortment of sizes and thread pitches on the MC and prop valve inlets through the years so they couldn't be interchanged going to the prop valve. The outlets from the prop valves were the same; either 3/8 fine or 10mm fine. These are close enough in size so that one could be screwed into the other with some effort, stripping the threads in the process.
That $150 they quoted you probably included a new prop valve, because the threads got pooched when you installed the wrong line.

Thanks for trying help.. The $150 is just for brake line. I went to abc auto they didnt have any , and when i went to advanceauto told them needed metric bubble flare he looked at me like i was stupid. H e showed me what they had. I was like you dont have any metric lines he was like no and you dont need metric. I guess ill try napa hopefully they some help. Seems when I replaced with double flare again side by tire leaks if i turn brake line around use the side with more threads into caliper hose the one going into master cyl/prop valve leaks. If no luck ill just pay the $150 i need brakes just seems high to run a metal line.

It's pretty tough to find metric lines.

You might try this place. www.classictube.com
