How to make my ride smoother

I just recently got my 90 Iroc and the ride is really bumpy and stiff. What can I do to make the ride better and not feel EVERY pothole i hit. I can live with the ride quality as it is now, but any improvement to make it smoother and less bumpy would be a really big plus. Thanks guys.

Making it smoother will affect the way the car drives. The ride quality on the IROC is due mostly to the springs and spring rates they have. You could try to find a set of stock V8 Camaro springs, or Trans Am springs and see if that helps.

not the struts though.....

depends on what your opinion of harsh is. the camaro generally rides stiffer then most cars. if you have high mileage then your due for a good shock/strut combo. remembering that prices in this area really reflect what you get so if rides important start saving up.

Well it has about 84,000 miles on it... u think that it is time to replace the shocks/struts? I dunno if the previous owner did or not though. Also, would a strut tower brace plus shocks and struts help the ride? I know it will be stiff because it is a sports car, but when i hit a pot hole it feels like the cars going to fall apart... its ridiculous....

do a search on what the most important first steps are....if it feels generally loose subframe connectors will really make a difference.

if the car feels bouncy (pogo effect) after bumps and what not you should replace the struts/shocks.

if it doesn't react well to hard turns and it takes bumps hard new springs will help as well.

sway bars help to stiffen the car through hard turns too but aren't necessary for your needs. with that sort of mileage you could benefit from new springs and strut/shocks.

Thanks Kandied91z, its not bumpy like a pogo stick, its more of the takes bumps hard and handles turns badly. I am going to replace a lot of front end parts next week that need replacing, so i am going to see if that helps at all. If not, ill try to invest in some springs and shocks/struts. Any recomendations for a college student on a budget? Thanks again for the help.

front end parts only help with steering. you'll need to focus on struts/shocks/springs to help what your talking. as far as budget....not really as it's worth it with these cars to get the right thing and there are thousands of threads to help you with that so just search a bit.
