parking brake screw

hi there i have a little problem with the screw for the parking brake that is above the driveshaft whenever i was driving i would always hear this metal scraping noise. I though it was my brakes, i took everything off and nothing then i got the idea to check the driveshaft for anything that might be touching it. Well come to find out the parking brake screw is very long and whenever i would go over a dip in the road at higher speeds it would scrape againt the driveshaft causing the metal scraping noise. Anyways does anyone have any clues on how i can go about fixing this? thanks

If it's hitting the driveshaft, that tells me that your e-brake cable is way too loose. There's an adjusting nut on it. Hold the long screw with a wrench and turn the nut so it goes toward the front of the car and that will take the slack out of it.

If it won't tighten up, I'd think one or both of the cables is/are broke...that's the only reason that the cable wouldn't get tight. See if you can pull one all the way out.

That's my car in your pic. No, it won't hurt anything to cut a bit off, there's plenty of it there.
