4rth Gen rear swap / Sway Bar ??

For those of you that have swapped a 4th gen rear end into your Third Gen cars,........

Did you use the skinny little sway bar that was original to the 4th gen rear end ; OR ; did you re-use the fatter 3rd gen rear sway bar used on most of the performance 3rd gen cars.

Any reason I shouldn't use a third gen sway bar with a 4rth gen rear end ?????

I'm putting a replacement LS1 rear end into my 95 LT1 and once I pulled the original rear end out I realized just how thin that sway bar is. I had a factory IROC rear sway bar in the back of the garage and when I looked ( quick ) they seemed to have the same bends and mounting points. I'm now wondering if I should install the fatter IROC rear sway bar on the LS1 rear end going into my 95 Z.

ANY thoiughts are welcomed !!!!!!!

Thanx !!!

Hey there John...what's going on up there in the frigid North?

I think they used a smaller bar since the cars were lighter and they didn't need that much bar back there....IMO.

Yes,...... The Northeast is know for it's "moderate" climate and 4 seasons that roll into each other - NOT this year !! I saw a air tempature of -10 degrees this winter and we have gotten 8" of rain this April !!!!

It's 66 today and feels like I'm in Heaven !! The fact that I took my ThirdGen to work this morning and got the insurance card in the mail today put me in the Best mood all year !!

Yes,..... The 95 feels SOoooooo much lighter back there than my Berlinetta that it took some time to adjust when I first got the car. The LT1 just makes so much "smooth" power that any car would probably feel that way !

I'm going to finish prepping all my parts and see what others have to say about my sway bar question - I'll be installing the rear end soon and would like to wrap it all up at the same time; but swapping a sway bar later is still very easy.

I Can't wait to try the 4.11's !!!!!!
