Just wondering if anyone had ever thought about using a drum brake hub from a 67-69 camaro for rotor hats. Shopping arounf they go for $25. Would save in time, hassle, and money if you could use these instead of trimming down a set of stockers for a 2-piece rotor setup.

What do you guys think? Cant remeber if this has come up before.

The hub on the left is the drum hub. I belive it has the same offset. I don't know what size bolts those are (7/16 or 12mm?). I thought that if you are working on a daily driver, at least you wouldn't have to buy junkyard rotors to turn down.

I thought of this using early Chevy\Olds\Pontaiac drum brake front hubs. You can find a 5x4.75" bolt circle if you go to things like a Nova or Acadian. Unfortunately I was unable to find a matching bearing combo that woul fit onto our spindles. The outer bearing is fine ( I believe . Might be vica versa...memory foggy ) but the ID of the inner bearing is too large to fit the spindle. I spent many hours going through bearing catalogs and physically measuring things to no avail. In the end it was much easier to simply machine down a set of used 1LE rotors.

I was looking into them when I was working on the C4 and LS1 swaps. I was unable to find their offset, bearing sizes, stud size, and stud pattern. So I just went with turning down thirdgen rotors. Also the turned down rotor seems more beefy and thicker then the 1’st gen hub.
