Anyone have any experience with the Monroe Sensatrac Struts? It is not for track use, just fun driving.

I have used them and they are very smooth and comforterble but too softly valved for hard cornering. The original Monroe heavy duty gas were amazing struts especially considering the cost but I was unable to find anyone selling them here recently. The main difference is the variable rate dampening that the sensi tracs use. The HD gas were basically the same strut with firm dampening for the whole stroke. I have tried the KYB gas a just before and found them to be kind of lousy and tend to fade when hot. Bilsteins are the way to go here as my factory Bilsteins were awesome but you better get out the Visa card for those.

While I am rolling here if you want bang for your buck then put as much coin as you can into new rubber as this is the most important part of the whole equation. Another low cost improvement is urethane sway bar end links. Very noticable and for twenty bucks you can't go wrong. Of course you may already have this stuff but just my $.02 on some low cost improvements.

You could do a lot worse than the Monroes if you are running stock springs.

 

I'm running them with my stock springs.

A little squishy at times, but the ride is pretty decent when cruising.

I want something else, but I don't know what.

 

Sensa-craps, They may be cheap but they won't last too long.

they last fine.....been putting those stock replacements on daily drivers for years. if you want adjustability it gets pricey, but for stock replacements they're better than ANY worn out strut on a car now.

 

WHOA! back from the dead. Might as well update whilst here though. I completely wore out one of my Sensi-Tracs in less than 40k miles.


My new prognosis? sensitracs = crap on a bun

 

lifetime warranty on them.....they can't wear out that guarantee.

 

meh... read the fine print and make a claim then tell me about it. Guarantees aint free... still gotta pay with your time... and lots of it. And in the end for what? Another junko shock that I dont want on my car?

Still I cannot deny that while they worked I was pretty pleased considering the dough they cost. Now? Bleh forget about it waste of time

if you use the fronts only they make great cheap drag struts. when they get more and more wore out.

 

I was considering these for my car. I guess you guys swayed my opinion. What are a good brand to choose from that won't break the bank? (running stock springs as well).

 

i have gabriels in the front of my car, launches fine on them at the track. Don't go crazy on handling so i couldn't tell you about that aspect.

 

The basic KYB's are good for the dough. A friend of mine has them in his beater and the work pretty well and seem to have lasted a while. I used to run KYB shocks on my sled and absolutely loved them. Worth a try. Cant be worse that those Sensatracs...

Keep in mind if you are able to find the Monroe HPG ( the blue ones ) I loved those they lasted very well for me.
