New Wheels (Will they fit)?
Hey there. I'm new to this board but my brother (who's car I now own) used to post here a lot years ago. I have a 92 Camaro RS 305.
I've decided to keep my car and fix it up a bit. Besides paint and exhaust, I'd like to get some new wheels.
I really like THESE ones. They are O.E. CONCEPTS Chrome Z06 Wheel, 17"x8.5", +58mm offset.
Now, I've had my tires/wheels rotated and I am aware that there is some type of offset issue so that the front wheels have to go on the front and the rear on the rear. So will 17x8.5 wheels fit on the front and rear, or will they stick out of the fenders? I'm not sure what size my wheels are in width (they're 16" in height).
Lastly, on THIS website, it says I'll need some type of spacer with the wheels to fit properly. Do those make the wheels stick out, or is it just because the 'mounting point' of the wheel is further out than the standard wheels.
I'm still trying to figure out this offset thing

Here is a very primitive picture of the cross section of two wheels. Excuse my poor artistic ability please

On the left is my stock wheel, which mounts perfectly fine.
On the right is the new wheel. Since it has a different offset, it wouldn't mount right... it would stick in too far. The spacer makes up for this offset.
Is this the correct meaning of offset, or do I have the wrong understanding?

On that site they say "With 2" adapters on the front and rear, both the C4 Corvette and 4th Gen F-body offset rims will bolt right on. We're currently running 17x9.5 front and 17x11 rear ZR1 rims on our twin turbo Iroc-Z, which is the maximum possible without additional fender flares. "
The wheels I want will need a 2.3" adapter, but the wheels are 17x8.5 in front and rear. The main thing I'm worried about is the wheels sticking out of the fenders. Does anyone know if this setup will work okay?

hey
hey i'll tell you some info that i have learned.. because i recently bought 4 z06 18"s 10.5 in the rear and 9.5 in the front in chrome. And i asked all over to find out what i needed.. The rims offset .. TO find the rims offset you measure half of the rim. this is the rims centerline, then you measure from the rims center line to the bolt hub on the inside of the rim.. this is your offset in mm. If you already know your offset go here http://skulte.com write them an email at skulte telling them your offsets and they will hook you up with exactley what you need... they were very helpfull for me. Also if my rims will fit , then yours will like cake. 8.5 wide will tuck fine. Your gunna wish you went 18 just for a better look.. but 17"s you'll save money on tires, and since their 8.5's you'll be able to drop more and not have to consider rolling the fender lips like i did today. Back to the offset..its just because the lug hub on the rim sticks out further to the front of the rim that you need a spacer to make up for it... plane and simple... z06's rule get them!!!! if you have the money to go o.e concepts go for it..I bought mine off of wheelreplicas.. they actually look pretty nice.. i was amazed when i saw them.. THEIR THE GREATEST : ) : ) : ) look at my sig man.. my z06

here
Heres the pic when kandiez had his. he had the 18x9.5 in the front and 18x10.5 in rear.. now if that barley stuck out that much.. do you think them 8.5's wide will?.. your setup will work out great. and that pic is the front with the 9.5

Okay thanks for the information... I finally understand backspacing!
Do you think 18's would look better? I don't want me car to look like a rapper drives it.
What about 18 rear and 17 front like a corvette? I can't really tell if the 18x9.5 rims stick out in the front in that picture. I'm sure if I put the 17x8.5's in the front they'd look fine, but I really don't want the 18x9.5's to stick out in the back.
When are you going to get yours mounted? I'm in no hurry, I just want to make everything fits and looks nice.
I'm wondering if 18F & 17R would look better than just 17 all around though...

some people dont like the 18 to 17 combo.. mainly the reason the vette has that combo is because its body style is made for it.. do a search on 17-18 combo and also.. type z06 rims in a search also theres soo much detail on exactley what your looking for..
