Just curious to see if anyone has actually tested their brakes. I sure have seen a lot of members doing brake upgrades/swaps but hardly ever see the results in numbers. Thanks.

Ive never tried to "time" how long it takes. I think most mags and testing groups use the distance it takes you to go 60-0 as a measure of goodness. I think anything close to 100 feet is awesome in that respect.

I pulled off a 102' in a large parkinglot when I did the skidpad test also. Only problem is that I can not confirm through my speedometer or tach that I was actually doing 60mph even. Without a radar gun, the gauges are not accurate enough to render a test of this nature. Tires were GS-D3's at 49psi front, 46 1/2 psi rear
I am currently doing alot worse compared to then- right now I would guess at least 30 ft more because I still have to rebalance my system after I add the new fronts to match the new rears. Its not going to stop any faster than the original system because the car will only stop as fast as the tires will allow. Bigger brakes just give more resistence to fade and more leverage to just lock sooner. The factory disc setups with aftermarket componants will stop fast, just not repeditively fast, and certainly not reliably over time.
ps- my front bracket arrived last nite. I taped the treads and fitted one side- tolerances are perfect and the quality is beautiful. I had them heat coated after being machined.

stock... our cars should be in a ballpark of 200 feet. dont forget our stock brakes really suck, especially if you have single piston fronts and drum rears.
the 1LE cars should be a lot better since they have 2 piston fronts, larger rotors and single piston rears.
**this is from Car & Driver, sept month , Vol. 50 No. 3 on page 50**
a NEW C6 Corvette shows it will pull down 70-0 in 166 feet.
the 04 Mustang Cobra SVT will pull down 70-0 in 179 feet
the best was the 04 BMW M3 which did 70-0 in 161 feet
i just got a G-Tech Competition Pro this week so i will run some #'s once my car is finished
its and Don's shop getting 1LE fronts and LS1 rear's.. all new components.
so you see 100 feet is way off

We are parctically neighbors.
70-0 is a big difference from 60-0. That extra 10mph will almost double the distance.

As stated though, the car is currently unbalanced brake wise with the Wilwoods on the back and the single pistons on the front. It stopped much faster with the single pistons on the back than it does right now because of the mismatch- but its still fairly quick right now.

Current front setup. Only difference is I have the Stillen drilled rotors back on there, they work better. Powerslots shown in picture, not Stillens.

Picture didn't work above - here goes another try.
Bigger brake don't stop the car any faster unless you are experiencing fade from repeditive stops. They will only stop as fast as the tire will grip! As long as the suspension is tight and the bias is balanced and the tires are great, you'll easily produce those times. Come ride in the car, It will give you a new found respect. I will throw you through the Chapman west to 55 south on ramp. Ain't noting around that can touch me, many have tried. The old brakes worked great, I only changed them because they made all kinds of frikin noise and kept warping every 3 months.

i was watching horesepower tv yesterday, and they had a 97 SS they were going to put brakes on. it did 60-0 in 170, then they put a baer track kit in the front and touring plus in the back and knocked it down to 103
ive got a copy of road tests from motortrend
new vette 107
cobra 116
no bmw
best was an enzo at 95, then an 03 viper at 97
i might have to get motivated to fix my lighter so i can try my g tech
