im wondering if i have the calipers, mounting brackets, rotors, and everything from a 9 bolt rear if i can take off my 10 bolt drums and replace it all. if so, how straight forward is it? thanks

 

10 bolt disc axle flanges have a different pattern than 9 bolt disc axle flanges, so the backing plates are different. Neither of them will bolt to your drum rear without fabrication.

 

I would really like to know what is involved as well, as I am in the same exact situation.

 

If you can weld or know someone who can, it's pretty easy.

In my case, the hub of the axle (they have to be pulled to remove the drum backing plate anyways) had to be turned down slightly because the disc wouldn't fit over it.

Clamp the disc brake brackets in place, line them up and weld the bracket to the drum flange. Hook up the brake lines and bleed.
E-brake cables have to be changed out from drum to disc brake cables. That's about it.
