Fender Liners

Does anyone know if any cars came with, or how to get the fender liners that go BEHIND the metal lip? Did they come on 91-92 cars?

Honestly I don't think there's a difference. If you want them to attach behind the lip, just place the liner back there and install the push retainers in, they'll work the same.

It helps with the wheels rubbing on the fender liner. Move it to the inside of the fender and it gives the liner a bit more clearance for the tire when you are turing lock to lock.

Actually Ed, they won't....the holes in the plastic are huge (more precision mfg from Detroit) and the push clips won't grip them. Best bet would be to use "speed nuts" on the plastic and put it behind the metal and use screws with large fender washers.

Bought my car new in 1988 and had the same problem. Found an article about it and went to the dealership. There WAS a replacement liner from GM that went behind the lip IF the customer bit^hed.

Yep, they're different. Not only do they bolt behind the fender lip, they are molded differently to help stop rubbing.

Only thing I can think of is getting a set from a junk yard.

I know 92 for sure. Maybe 91 also. If I get time this weekend, I can snap some pics of the differences between the 2.
