steering gear
took the new ride out today and hit a large bump causing my front wheels to shake violently as if a tire went out. all the front steering suspension was replaced up until you get to the gear and on. there is slight play in the steering shaft making a clunking noise. any idea what it could be?

factory joint maybe? the splines can wear out, or you may just need to tighten up the nut.
only thing i can think of, unless the actual steering box is worn out.

LoL! Even worse than I had imagined, possibly melted sway bar link bushings?
lol...
turns out a few of the teeth were broken. basically from running such wide wheels for so long it just gave out with the mileage. had her rebuilt with some tighter specs and the front end is now the way it should be.
thanks guys.

look in the yellow pages. i have a shop local here that does this sort of work. harry's steer & gear that did mine.... i'm sure every state has someone though.
much cheaper then buying new and i was able to tighten the ratio a little more. works very well.
