Upgrading to WS6 sway bars, help me out here?

OK, I'm upgrading to WS6 sway bars, front and rear...and I have a couple of questions:
1) What additional bits and pieces will I need to get these installed? I've heard something about bushings..but I don't even know what a bushing is, let alone where to get them can someone point me in the right direction?
2) How easy or difficult is it to do this swap? I've heard that it's pretty simple, but if someone can just brief me on what exactly I need to do...I'm going to be dropping the rear end to put on a new 4th-gen one soon anyway, so the rear should be simple, but for the front...I just need to know

Thanks everyone!

first get under your car and become fimilar with the suspension and the parts you will be replacing. Also, go buy a chilton's or haynes manual for your car. A sway bar swap is very easy, disconnect the endlink, then bushing supports and the sway bar can be removed.

36mm and 24mm sway bar bushings can be found at spohn.net , top-downsolutions.com or guldstrand.com

here is my front WS6 bar... the bronze looking brackets are what you need to remove.. those are my main brackets, i replaced the stock ones w/energy suspension pieces

the bronze stick looking thing with black bushings on it is the drivers side endlink. you will also have to remove one on each side to remove your front bar.

if ya have any more questions, dont be afraid to ask

Not sure how it is down in NC, but the end links on rust belt cars are commonly FUBAR. The easiest way to get them off is cut them with a grinder from what I've tried. Otherwise be prepared to use a lot of PB Blaster and swear a lot.

Once again, YMMV since you don't have to deal with road salt.

lol Justin, you could have just asked me. I'm the one who suggested you to get the swaybars in the first place. You need bushings, the tiny little rubber/poly things that dampen the metal-to-metal contact. You can get em at autozone. I'm sure somebody has the proper size that you need.

How easy is it? About 30 minutes for the front, pending the old swaybar comes off easy enough. Yours should since you dont have a michigan car. Your rear one you can swap out when you put your 3.23 posi rear in place. Shouldn't be too hard at all.

You'll have fun doing it and you'll thank me for suggesting it to you

Ah, Anthony! I was wondering what your SN was over here

Well, I got my front sway bar this morning. $50 local pickup, not bad. It's in the garage, i think it already has bushings, but if not I'll head to AutoZone to replace them. My rear one is en route from eBay, so is my rear end.

As for underbody rust, the car has almost 60K miles and has been a garaged NC car all its life, so I'm not too worried about it.

don't re-use rubber bushings, ever.

AutoZone only lists up to 33mm ones, which obviously won't work. Advance Auto Parts has to special-order them, and PepBoys and NAPA have impossible sites to search.

Try Spohn, TDS or Hawks at the top of the page. They all cary them. Also I would recommend getting the greasable version if you go with a poly bushing, that way you don't have to worry about any annoying squeaks.

Thanks dude

I'll be down at F-Body Motorsports (again, I'm getting some new t-tops ) and I'll grab what I should have grabbed today: these. Greasable poly bushings, those should work.

Since they dont' have greasable poly REAR bushings, I'll go to TDS and get these.

What exactly do I grease them with?

I've been told not to grease poly bushings with conventional grease, suposed to use a synthetic grease. But I don't know if I believe it. Anyways I use this stuff http://www.super-lube.com/cgi-bin/mi...tegory_Code=SG

It's the same stuff Spohn sell for $15 a tube. I found it for 5 bucks at my local ACE hardware. It works good.

Picked up the front and rear bushings today along with some nice glass t-tops to replace those mucky plastic ones.

Must be nice out here its like a war against rust. I finally have a garage to keep my car in but i have alot of painting and cleaning up to do now. It was actually worse on it to sit and not be driven.
