I know its not Bilstein or Koni's but my pocket book cant afford all that after all the suspension parts i just bought....What does everyone think of that setup?I know there will be pros and cons so I would like to hear people who have this setup....Would I be expecting a jaw breaking ride? How about regular street driving??I was tempted to just run monroe sensatracs upfront and gabriels outback...or should i go with KYB all around?

EDIT:Also what about GR-2s all around? There is a pretty good deal going on ebay right now

Whatever you do, Jon, do NOT run sensatracs. IMO, those are some of the biggest POS's around. Monroe anything, for that matter.... Sure, the KYB's aren't Bilsteins or Konis, but for the money it's an ok shock. Basically a stock replacement. Not sure how they would ride in conjunction with Sportlines... have fun on the streets of LA with that setup- my Pro-kit setup is bad enough with dips, potholes, etc. Sportlines are even lower.

well,i think i might bite the bullet once again and order them from ebay....Im on the outskirts of LA but we both know California doesnt have the best roads....I guess its a price i have to pay for going with sportlines...In any case i dont mind....In any case,i rather have a shock that will serve some sort of purpose instead of having a shock that does more positive than negative...AKA stock shocks with a drop

i have the Gr2s and gas adjusts iwth the sportlines its not a good combo, the struts/shocks cant handle the spring rate. id save up and get some bilsteins dont waste ur money on KYBs.

pretty much because the KYBs are going to blow out in no time.

well its a done deal...and i think its best if i save my money for the bilsteins..There is no point to buy the KYBs if im going to spend more money on Koni's or the bilsteins

I wonder if having sportlines compared to your prokits make a difference

i installed my sportlines and KYBs at the same time, the car still floated a bit in the front, it wasnt stiff.

i have sportlines and GR2's on all 4 corners.. and my car is fine. handles well and handles bumps, ive had them for about 1000 miles so far.

maybe when i become "hardcore" i might opt for something more racy but everyday driving and some spirited driving is fun and the car handles well.

i also got mine from Ebay, paid only 79$ for all 4, brand new condition.. so the money i spent was well warranted for the useage.

however, if you are "Mr. street racer" and care about every damn thing and are ****, wait for the better shocks.

I've got GR-2s up front and had gas-a-justs in the rear. I had to replace the right rear gas-a-just just the other day cause it lost its stiffness causing the axle to hit the bump stop at almost every bump. Only had them for a year or so. I hear the KYBs burn out quickly. Had to buy a sensatrack just cause I needed a shock fast. I also don't really like the GR-2s up front. There is too much front float after coming over a bump or a sudden dip in the road. rest of mods are in sig. I would have done SFC a long time ago if I knew how much better the car would feel.

You can say what you want about Sensatracs, but I had the front float problem with my old Gabriels and went to Sensatracc and am very satisfied. I think the handling is great. But then I don't go to a track, just a street car.

I have KYB 4 way adj struts in the front and 8 way adj shocks in the rear on my '86 Iroc. I have both set to the maximum firmness. I am very happy with the way they feel. The car road very solid and handled very well once I installed them. My only issue with the struts and shocks are that I don't ever adjust them from the firmest setting. I don't like the way the car rides and handles in the other settings. I wish I could buy a non adj set and feel comfident that I would get the same ride.

I have carquest El Cheapo sturts and shocks on my '92 RS(It was a money issue). They seem to float a lot. Not horrible but I would rather have the KYB adj struts & shocks.

I have to agree about KYB shocks wearing out fast. I have KYBs on my 71 T/A and with about 12,000 miles on them the front end is bouncing a lot now. They were great shocks for the money when they were new but I was expecting 30-50,000 miles out of them.
