I do not know how they act on 3rd gens, but after seeing what they did my my buddies 78 BBC malibu I'd recycle them into something useful!!!

Some guys swear by them, others I've talked to say nothing good, but obviously with the times your running, you've got them figured out!!

Personally I think the problem on my buddies G-body is that the 9" he had made, the fella rasied the top mounts 3/4" higher on the diff, now add the sharp angle of the SSM bars and we figured his IC is about the middle of the rear seat so it's just shocking the tires waaay too much, not to mention the front of the car is a factory iron BBC with 4 core copper rad and nothing aluminum except the intake rest of the car is stripped so the weight distribution is totally screwed!

my bars are totally different than his.i have seen them on a malibu before and it acted screwed up also.those go where the stock control arms fit.

mine are like a non adjustable ladder bar and are as long as ladder bars.

Ahhh, that would change things then!! I've never paid them any attention until buddy bought them, as soon as they were bolted on I thought to myself they were going to be trouble just looking at the extreme angle they were at.

But if ours are like a ladder bar set-up then that's a totally different set-up....now I dont think your car's as impressive

IHI...thinking to myself, I wish I could go that fast

i consider it more like having two short torque arms beings there is no adjustment for pinion angle or preload.so i really have to be on top of the shock settings to get it to work on the line.

i guess 1000hp AT THE WHEELS is not to impressive.....not

3450lbs,full interior with a thump system on a true 10.5 tire.

and yes i drive it on the street.

i know what you mean,i went to a glide and it helped traction alot and it mph'ed more also.i have been a 1.37 so far but i want to get in the 1.32 range.

i hit mine with 325hp on the line with a plate.the best thing so far i have done is 90/10 struts, trick springs and QA1 rear shocks.the rear shocks control the tire shake i had with c/e rear shocks.

nice to see someone else has them.LOL.

i guess it is time to buy a tubular crossmember also, but i don't know about the coilover conversion yet..

I am consiedring going to glide also. The 400 is nice for the street that is the only resson I have kept it. Im also consiedering the BMR rear package. Onefast85 my times were with a 28x10.5 et drag and at 3400lbs. Im putting together a 434 sb and im trying to get picked for the hrm pump gas race.this motor I think will run around 10.6 on motor and race gas and 325 shot I hope 9.0s to 8.9s but spray and pump gas 9.6-9.7s on a safe tune. But as evryone Knows talk is cheap. So I hope I pull this one off. And if I cant get it to hook ill put the glide in.

I`ve had them since my 12-bolt upgrade about 10 years ago. My best 60` is a one time 1.39,with the rest between 1.40 and 1.45.They`re the perfect length to get the IC of our cars right,a non-adjustable ladder bar.I wish they were chromoly though,as the whole kit is pretty heavy, but back then I didn`t ask,I was simply happy to have a means of locating pinion angle on a housing I got out of a chevelle!
Onefast85,go for the k member, and get the rack too. Mine has spring perches using trick springs.Car lost 75#from the swap.
The only down side to them IMO is that they don`t fit rules that mandate stock-style suspension, even though aftermarket TA`s are adjustable in a few places, sometimes aren`t factory lenghth either.I`ve seen one on a cheap street car that wasn`t even 24" long!Oh well, rules is rules.
Do you have a part# for those QA-1s?

Yours is the fastest I`ve heard that uses them

what tubular kmember did you buy?and how does it drive with a manual rack?i have an s10 manual box i was going to put on it.did you go with the chromoly k-member?

i have one friend that has been faster than i have on southsides.he went 8.78 at 155 with a 1.34 60ft.

i may mini tub mine so i can get the 29.5x13.5 et drags under it but i will keep the southsides.but only if it spins with new upgrades to the motor.

one thing about southsides is that it gives you room for dual exhaust.

by the way,i have a chevelle 12bolt in mine also.

I have the complete PA Racing setup, all chromoly. It drives great.I think that when you eliminate all the pivot pionts associated with the factory steering it improves the feel, there`s no place for any "slop" to develop from wear either.
