how much weight savings do you get going to a tubular k-member? and about how much are they? i saw a cheap one on ebay the other night and it said along with the rack and pinion setup they sell you save a total of 150lbs

 

You definately will NOT save 150. I can't remember how much I saved with just the kmember. It was less than 30 lbs though. The stock kmember isn't that heavy believe it or not.

 

What he said...the stocker does not wiegh as much as you`d think. I switched to a tube k member and it did save some wieght but the biggest advantage is the room it creates, the wieght loss is small,(maybe 30 for the K) you`d be better offf relocating the battery to the rear if wieght reduction is what your after. The A-arms are almost as heavy as the k member..the aftermarket ones are are probably 1/4 of the wieght of the stamped arms.

 

i saw that auction and i believe they were referring to a chromoly set-up k-member a-arms manual rack which would mean no more heavy steering box and no more steering pump brackets etc as far as 150 sounds good but id like someone to find out for sure if it really is good for that much i want 2

another 40 POUNDS i took off in a lightweight aluminum drag brake kit for the front.
33 POUNDS off the back with a drag brake kit and i already had factory iron discs.

I just weighed my stock kmember. 45lbs.

If my aftermarket weights 20, I only saved 25 lbs. You definately don't pay for weight savings. The increase in room is almost worth it.

i took off 79 pounds with k member a arms and drag brakes.
looking for another 30 or so when i do the manual rack.
sticking with my stock spring setup.... never liked the coilover idea, plus ive already got drag springs and struts. no sense in buying parts 2 times just to save 10 pounds.

 

stage 20...where did you get your brake setup from and what was the cost of it?
