Will a gear box out of a 88 Iroc fit a 82 firebird s/e?thanks

Axle/Gears: 2.73 IRS
Do you mean gear box as in transmission or as in a steering box? I believe in '82 the pitman arm was different than the '88 models, and I believe the transmission used a different crossmember as well, but someone else will have to chime in and verify.

Yes it will fit. The only potential problem I can think of, is the fittings for the lines; they could be different. If so, you just need the lines and maybe pump (or at least the little fitting that goes into it for the pressure line) off of the newer car, which will all then swap on as a group. You're renewing the lines anyway of course as part of this, so you'd just need to test your new line in your new gear.

AFAIK the Pitman arm is the same in all these cars, regardless of year or engine or whatever. There's not much that could be changed about that, anyway.
