O.K., I've finally purchased a set of lower control arms. After lots of searching, heres what I came up with for installation:

1)Jack car up and support rear end on jackstands.

2)Remove wheels to create needed working space.

3)Remove and install control arms one at a time.

Now the question I have is this. Some have said not to tourqe the bolts until car is back on the ground.

If I have the car supported on the rear end can I tourqe the bolts then? Or do I have to put the wheels back on and lower the car back to the ground?

what type of bushing??

 

Billet aluminum bushings with steel inserts

 

Can tighten those while the car is up in the air.

I hope you never have to change your rear end for anything.

 

Why?

I would not support the rear end with jackstands!!!

Put the jack stands under the chassis.

When you unbolt the contol arms even one at a time the rear end and body are going to shift in relation to each other. You want to support the biggest weight the chassis.

You will have to pull the chassis and rear end back together to get the bolts in.

It is easer to move the rear end than it is the chassis so you want the chassis in the fixed position.

Put a floor jack under the rear end to manipulate the arms into position.

When you take out the orginal arms wiggle them to open up the space between the mounting tabs. If you dont do this it can be hard as hell to get the new one in. After you have ALL OF THE NEW arms bolted in loosley, then tighten the bolts to spec. This will close the gap back up.

I would get them as tight as possible because the bushing is supposed to rotate in itself not on the bolt. It the bolts are not tight, the arms will rattle and foot ball the mounting holes and you will have a mess.
