Depends on what you want to spend. If you plan on having the car for a while koni or bilstein are the way to go. If you want more of a budget shock strut kyb are nice for the money just be ready to replace sooner. If your springs are shot then I would recommend replacing then also to help any shock/strut you put on to last longer. Shocks and springs work hand in hand and if one is weak then the other wears out faster. I see alot of complants on how long some shocks last but I am willing to bet that the springs are still stock.

For a smooth ride, for cheap, go with Monroes or KYBs. For serious handling, and a lot money, go with Bilsteins or Konis.

Where can I get Koni or Bilstein, since I happen to live in the southern california region. Does struts come with the springs?

I buy most of mine online because they are hard to locate good one's local. If you don't have a credit card then you may want to call around your area. spohn sell them but but they can be found cheaper by searching online. springs can also be bought from spohn he sells a few types. I myself like the stock ride height so I went with mood stock replacement which average about 25 a spring. (100) most after market lowering springs are 200+.
