reguarding ZR1 wheels...

i know that there are thirdgen wheels that are made specifically for the "front" and "rear"

do ZR1 fourth gens have the same thing? reason i am asking is because on my front wheels.. my driver wheel is sticking out 1/2 inch more than the passenger side. the alignment is correct, had it checked 2 times by 2 different places.

does anyone know if there are front and rear specific? the wheels came off a 99 camaro SS and are original GM wheels(they have the GM stamp on them)

any help would be appreciated.

On the 4th gens, all wheels are the same. 17x9 all around, same offset/backspacing on all 4. That's what's nice about the 4th gen wheels...you can rotate them front-back easily. Something is wrong with your car. I'm surprised those two alignment shops didn't tell you something was bent so they wouldn't guarantee their alignment on it.

I guess your wheel bearings could cause it as well if they are worn. But if its a 1/2" like you're saying it is, to allow that much outward play, you'd have to have no outer wheel bearing I'd say!

Actually another thought...are all the spacers you're using the same width? Could you maybe have gotten two different width spacers? I'd recommend 2" or 2.25" spacers for the front.

last i checked, the spacers are 2".. the bearings are new.. i did the 1LE conversion not too long ago.. so all that hardwear is brand new..

well then i really dont know what else to check, a friend of mine suggested that i go to a shop that he really trusts and has a great alignment tech there.. i think i'll take it there and see what they say.. this is really strange..

oh .. and the really odd part.. the driver side wheel is also 1/2 inch more forward toward the front wheel arch than the passenger as well...

Have them check your caster settings, though it'd be strange for it to be out THAT much unless those other shops are retarded. I know around here if your car has a problem with something steering-related, they won't even align your car until you fix it.

Check your strut mount. Check the driver side front A-arm to see if it is bent. That's entirely possible. Also check your balljoint out. That could be causing this as well.

yeah my money is on the A-Arm. I had another car that had the exact same results due to a bent A-arm.

I'd be inclined to suspect, that the wheel on the one side doesn't "stick out" more than the other side; rather, the fender on one side, is pushed in (or bulged out) more than on the other.

The car's frame and undercarriage is the part that matters. The skin is just along for the ride. You match the skin to the functional and structural parts of the car, not the other way around.

ALSO even though they are all stamped GM...If 1 of the rims happend to be a ZR1 rim and the other a SS rim then the offset is duifferent...Plus like said many companies make those in all different offsets....

An actual ZR1 rim would it IN compared to a SS wheel...the Zr1 rim had more backspacing..
