Rims...

I found a set of rims I really like, but there are some down sides.

1. the 5 bolt patterns are no bigger than 15 inches, will this hurt my handling much if any?

2. the rims have a box weight of 35 lbs, can the rims be lighten?

The rims are American Racing Vectors, and yes I know they look like General Lee rims. The rims where also used on Greenwood Corvettes and I believe Buick T-Type.

Any help will be appreciated.

There is probably no real way to lighten those wheels. 15" rims will definitely limit you on the type of tires you will be able to buy. Granted, there are racing tires in 15" that would be good at the track but they are not really designed for street use. I would not say that 15" would hurt your handling unless you are stepping down from 16" with good tires.

Yeah i already have Z28 rims which are 16 inch, and really don't want to go smaller diameter.

Thanks for the information.

I’ve always like those wheels… though I can’t seem to find them in the sizes/backspacing that I’d want. They are nowhere near 35# each, I’d put the 15x7’s at somewhere between 16 and 18lbs.
