Soon I'll be putting in my built up LT1 and I want to make sure everything complements it.

I'll be getting a kmemeber(PA) and tubular a-arms, but I'd like to get sub frame connectors first.

Which are the best to get? I looked around and on ebay I found these: See Here

Any other recommendations?

 

Those SFC's on eBay are the same ones I sell on my web site for much less. Here is a link to the SFC's. They are made by Alston Racing. I offer them with or without the SFC mounting kit (bolts, washers & nuts), since most people just have them welded in. Available in Powder-coat gloss black, gloss red or un-coated (bare).

The alstons work great, but as Lon said, buy them from him. You can also add a set from Spohn later on or at the same time, this is the route i'll be going soon.

 

I'm just curious if that is the set of Alston SFC's I gave away at the 2004 FL-ThirdGen Statewide Meet? Boy, he's sure looking for a good profit if that is the case.

Just curious, I have a set of Mac sub-connecters, very similar to the Alstons. You can ADD Spohn's on as well?? Will this make any major difference in stiffness? You'll be adding more weight,(although not much) so is it really nessesary, from a $ point of view, if it's a street driver (not road racer)???
Maybe you've done some research on this Lon??
PS, I've also added Lon's wonderbar, and KB lower chassis brace and STB. How much stiffer can it get??

UMI Performance
Alstons
Jegs

Each of them has their own pros and cons so just as long as you get a set you should be fine.

 

Why would you add the spohns to these? Are these even the best ones you can get?

It looks like some sfcs connect in the middle but these just run along the sides...

 

Spohns run along the sides, the alstons run up the middle, each have different mounting points, after I install both i'll be fabbing little crossbars to tie the two sets together, creating a full tubular frame under the car

They are very good quality, I am very pleased with them so far, well worth the money.

 

Well, just as an update I went with the SFC's from Top Down Solutions. The order went very well, and I had them installed (a buddy welded them on) in no time.

I also got the 'wonder bar' listen on TDS as well. My only complaint was that the holes where it attached to to subframe (next to the sway bar mount) didn't line up, and I had to use a dremel to open up the holes. I think this is because the bar is made to fit a new camaro, and not one that has flexed and bent over the last 12 years. Anyhow, it was a 10 min fix and put it right on.

I must say, even though I have upgraded anti roll bars, new shocks and struts, new springs, and a new panhard rod, these two items definitely made a noticeable improvement. Everything feels tighter and my car seems to roll less... which was unexpected.

personally any subframe connector will help, and if welded in helps more.

This question is for lonsal. I just bought a pair of these Alston sfc's from you (and got them fast thanks!). Now I've been reading the posts about them and I've seen a lot of posts from 2003 and 2004 saying that the Alston passenger side SFC doesn't mount correctly at the front. And there are problems with the catalytic converter. Have they modified the mounts at all?

 

Refgarding the Alston SFC passenger-side fitment issue. The SFC's have gone through about three minor design changes as they have changed fabrication methods for the mounting cups through the years. However to my knowledge the welding jig has not changed. Contact Mike at Alston Racing. I spoke at length about this issue earlier this week when I placed my latest PO for the SFC's. He mentioned to me what he feels the problem may be (the age of our cars is now becoming an issue). He can make recommendations to resolve any problems you may have.
