Clunk after spring install.

I just installed new Eibach pro kit springs and Bilstein HD struts/shocks, i also replaced the A-Arm bushings, and installed a wonder bar.

Now sometimes, not everytime, i go over a bump, i get a clunk fromt eh front end, does it moreso when turning and/or braking. i double checked everything when reasmbling it, the A-arms werent binding, i indexed the springs properly, end of the coil right betweent eh back two holes.

Any ideas? i had it aligned, and ive put 200 miles on it, im just out of ideas of things it could be. just something that will go away after things form to each other? I cant distinguish which side of the vehicle its coming from other than just the front end.

See if you can reproduce the sound by pushing down on the front of the car. I'm guessing a loose bolt somewhere. Tie rod end nuts, ball-joint to spindle nut, or strut to spindle bolt or sway bar endlinks.

Steering components are my first guess... either a ball joint, one of the tie rods, or the idler arm. My next guess would be the upper strut mounts.

tie rods were tight, so were the ball joints, like said, double checked everything, also replaced the strut mounts. the idler arm, tie rods, centerlink and ball joints were just replaced about a month ago. tink i figured it out tonight though, replaced the brake pads, and the bushings in the calipers were SHOT as in pretty much not there. replaced them, will find out if this did it in the morning.

no noise from pushing on the front of the vehicle.

Did you ever figure out what this was? I have the same problem - I just replaced my front struts with new Bilsteins, and did new strut towers at the same time. Now I get a clunk from the front going over bumps - but only some of the time.

nope, went through and double checked everything, and still doing it, just turned the radio up.

Heh...I may end up doing the same.

But I was thinking this...as you know, the strut attaches with two thick pieces of metal that go in front of and behind the spindle that the bolts pass through to hold it on.

I wonder if there may be enough play between the metal flaps on the strut and the spindle to cause the strut to actually be "loose" on the spindle, even though the bolts are tight?

In other words, the bolts may be torqued down, but the metal flaps attached to the strut are strong enough to hold firm and not bend to clamp onto to the spindle...so there's actually enough play to allow the spindle to move up and down inside them...if that makes any sense...

I can't think of anything else it could be . Strut towers are rock solid (and brand new), strut tower bolt is on tight...the only other bolts that were touched were those big ones holding on the struts!

Is something bottoming out? Endlinks in upside down (banging on the frame)? Tie rod sleeve clamp screws hitting anything?

I'm really reaching here.

Nope, endlinks were just replaced as well (a couple weeks ago) with polys, and were put in with the threads up - just as the old ones came out. And the tie rods / associated parts haven't been touched (yet). The banging only started right after the front struts and strut mounts were changed out yesterday. Maybe the strut is hitting the frame? I won't be able to tear it all the way down again till next weekend....maybe I'll pull a wheel off sometime soon and look for signs of things rubbing / hitting.

If the noise is confined to the rear end then it is your springs. That is normal and common with certian lowering springs on these cars. My car clunks like a ***** with my sportlines. You will hear even more noise if you replaced the sloppy stock rubber bushings with poly ones.

The noise seems to be coming from the front, on the driver's side. I can't tell if it's also on the left or not.

The rear seems to be OK...

Did you replace the rubber isolators on top of the springs?
