corvette rims on 3rd gen with 4th gen rear quick question
ok i just got my corvette rims on ebay, 99 vette with 17's and 18's...i already installed the 4th gen rear...so should i get a pair of 2" spacers for the front or 2.25"????? also will i still need to space the rear rims out a little as well? what are other people running with my set-up... i figured the small spacers that are in pepboys would be ok for the rear because i heard others saying they still had to beat the inner wheel well in with a hammer when running 4th gen rims+rear on a 3rd gen. thanks in advance everyone.

I'm running a 4thgen rear with 9.5" C5 wheel and 275 tire with no spacers in the back, they aren't necessary beacuse the 4thgen rear is about 3-4" wider than the thirdgen rear. Maybe with a 10" wheel and huge 315's it might require some work, but I'm not sure on that. Also I have 2" adapters in the front. Some run 1.75 some run 2.25 I guess it's a matter of preference, but 1/4" isn't going to make any huge difference.

i have y2k wheels.. same thing i think.. 18 x 9.5 and 17x8.5..295/35/18 in the back
1.5" looks like **** on the front with ls1 brakes., i need another .5 or .75 more ... go with 2" and you can always add a shim if you want more.. make sure to get hardened studs for the front..arp.. cheap insurance
rears.. i cut my bumpstop off.. before i put the spacer on.. i got longer studs and used a .5" spacer.. this is with a 99Ls1 rear which is a little narrower... lt1 you could probably get by with shaving the bumpstop and using a small spacer or none at all with 275s... you will have to massage the inner rear well.. but it doenst take much to do

If you want, I just did my upgrade to the 4thgen rear recently but I've had the vette wheels for a while now so I have two 2" billet aluminum adapters w/ lugs from SPD ( Skulte Performance Design).. I paid 150 for them and will sell them for $100+sh if you want to save some cash on buying new ones.. Although there are cheaper ones on the market than these.

I'd use some kind of spacer for the rears. I have stock 275/40R18 tires on 18x9.5 wide-spoke vette wheels (like what you won on eBay). I had to beat the inside of the fenders pretty good, and they still rub when making quick sharp turns. I think another 1/4-1/2" would fix the problem. I'm going to try the stock 1/4" spacers that came on some of these cars from the factory if I can find a pair.
Most people say to use 2" to 2.25" spacers front and rear on a stock car, and the LS1 4th gen rearend I have is 1 5/8" wider on each side, roughly.
