max front wheel backspacing with Coil overs??
what is the max wheel backspacing for a 91 camaro with the Spohn Coil over front suspension? i plan to use 18x9" wheels and would like to hopefully keep them tucked in while wearing 275's, but i have heard of problems doing this is you have coil overs?
on a 9" i'm not sure. i ran a +65 on a 9.5 with 275/35/18's. using a 2 1/4" adapter things were very close, this was of course based on my own custom coilovers which were a 3" dia. not the smaller 2.5 that spohn sells so you should have even more room.
currently i'm running a 4.75 backspacing on a 8" wheel with a 3.2 od air strut which is in theory similar dimension wise to a coilover and it's very tight. in my particular case though i'm running a baer track kit with the 2 piece rotor option which pushes my factory hub area out 1/4" so in this example my rim really is more in the area of a 4.5" b.s.
you can do it, just need to make the necessary adjustments. alot of it will depend on the od of your spring as well as the tire width/profile and the height of the vehicle you will run it at.
