C5 Corvette wheels?

Iv'e posted about some C5 Corvette wheels on my 89 Firebird a while back i was told that they would fit but when i went to a local wheel shop the guy said that if i put spacers to make them fit the wheels would pop out too much. I then went to a Big O tires and the guy there told me he can do it.

My question is would the tires pop out pass the flare or woud it be flush?

The wheels are two 17" and two 18"

You will need 2" adaptors to make them work.

I suggested ordering them from Skulte (www.skulte.com) His service and quality are TOP NOTCH. You will not find a better vender anywhere.

For more information on spacing, on how it works, he has a great little write up on it.

There's several threads devoted to this, with pics. Comes up all the time.

Do a search on this forum, look for userID "RB83L69", and "corvette" probably or maybe "C5", I think he has some of those on his car and posted a pic of them. Maybe some other people in that same thread too.

My adapters from Skulte should be in soon and I'm gonna be using the same C5 wheels with the fatter spokes. I ordered the 2" adapters, but only 2 of them because these are for the rear of my drift car. I have 6 good 17" wheels from Corvettes, 4 of them from an 89 and 2 from a 98. The 18's that also came with the 98 set (and meant for the rear) were damaged so I got the set for cheap. One thing is for sure, those fat spoke C5 wheels are light as hell. I dont think I've ever held a lighter 17" wheel. If you wanna see pics of those wheels on all 4 of a Camaro, do a search for omnipotentgoku, he has those wheels on his car.

are you talking about these wheels.

They aren't all that light, the fronts are 45lbs with tire and the rear are 50lbs with tire.
You will probably need 2.25" on the back since they are inset more than the 4th gen wheels.
I have a 98 LS1 rear end and I needed to put a pair of slip on 7/16" spacers to get them to clear. I also had to bang in the lower front area of the inner fenderwell to add a little more clearance.

stock tire sizes are 275/40/18 for the rear and 245/45/17 for the front.

Your rear spacer may be too thin for the rear.
After you bolt everything together and have the wheels/tires put on, lower the car and MAKE SURE that the rear tire does not rub the inner fenderwell. Mine rubbed really bad near the LCA mount on the body of the car, so I had to beat in the inner fender area and put a spacer on my 4th gen rear.

I think they are light, dunno about with tires on. Just the rims alone the 18" one is definately lighter than the 15" IROC wheel or any 16" OEM wheel I have.
