Tire Help 17x9 come in

Alright so just picked up a set of 17x9 and 17x8 ROH Snypers and now im deciding tire sizes and what type of tires. Ideal i know is a 245/45 up front and a 275/40 on the rear. Front ill prolly stay with that to maintain closest to OEM tire specs. Now on the rear...who has fitted a 285/40 to a 17x9? How does it fit, look, hook compared to a 275?

Now the front 245/45...should i do a 255/40....maybe 255/45 whatcha guys think?

Also looking at the Avon Tech M550 A/S for a tire choice. Any opinions on that tire, any suggestions?

Anyone with snypers could chime in itd be appreciated.

I really like my 245/45's on the front. They sit real square w/ the wheel, actually overhang it a bit because of the "bead protector" built into the tire. - As for the rear, I couldn't tell ya. My 17x11's fit 315's square. - From what I've seen the 285's aren't really any different than the 275's. Not really enough wider to notice, and deffinitely harder to find/less selection...

well when i went to a 255 from a 245...it just sat a little taller and bubbled out a little more which i liked and i can tell a difference between my 245 fronts...this is on my 16s

But tire rack has plenty of 285s to choose from lots are in hte price range im in so i dont think its gonna be a problem.

I know it wont be a big difference but it should work? right?

it'll work fine. I've seen 275/45's on 8" wheels many times. way too much buldge in the tire for my tastes(plus hurts the tires performance), but it's been done. - I think the 255/285 combo will give you a slight "buldge" in the tire. - Otta look pretty good.

I run 17x9 snypers on all fours and I run a 275/40 out back and a 245/45 up front. I am very happy with the look, performance, and stance. I am not sure if I would have gone bigger in the rear (285). I am happy with the 275. It looks like the best fit on that wheel.

I run the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS and I love them. My next tire will be the Goodyear GS-D3 as it has received incredible ratings.

so you did go with a 285 then? Cool, btw those style SS rims are definently one of my favorites, just that they were too pricy and still needed adapters.

yea, i did. i only paid 117 for the adapters off ebay and the rims were like 400. i also ended up buying used tires for 155 off ebay. so not bad all together.

The snypers do not require spacers and i really couldnt tell you because 2 of them are at my work from power washing the clearcoat off...but there is a little deeper dish on the 9" i would think. This monday or tuesday i might be able to get a pic with a comparison.

Thanks Steve, my confusion originated on Skulte's website where he mentions spacers for the 9" but GroupA's doesn't, where did buy yours. I have the 8" snypers all around but want to go wider in the back. I was also thinking of the 285 x 40 in the rear, a little taller to fill up that fender gap.

i bought my used from a member on this site. There pretty old snypers at least 7 years i think.

Group A i think is the least expensive new.

Im gonna go ahead and get 285s when i do get tires...but thatll be about a month...still gotta finishing cleaning up the rims and polishing and i kinda need some income for that $469 tirerack charge for all 4 tires...what kinda tires do you have?

I have the Kumho Supra 712s, 245x45 , not too bad a tire, but next I'm gonna try the Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals. I'm also thinking about doing what Shifty did - get the 9" Snypers all around and use the 245s in front and 285s in back. Wish I would have went with the 9" Snypers originaly, but I think I can resell the 8" without taking too bad a loss.
