need help lowering my car after ls1 install
i am in desperate need to lower my car , i have an 87 ta ws6 with a ls1 6 speed . prior to the swap my car sat perfect . the shocks and struts were original at that time . i did the swap and the car raised about 5 inches from the tire . i then installed lowering springs 2 " rear and i believe 1.5 imn the front , it made a litte difference but still higher than stock . today i bought new shocks, struts , end links and ball joints from advanced auto , i know that the monroe sensatracts are junk but im poor and the shocks were completely gone , well i put them in and the rears look good at 1.5 from the wheel well but the front raised up its now at . pass 4 .0 and driver at 4.5 , it looks like a 10 second car at a 6000rpm launch . please any help you can give thanks .

are the springs indexed wrong in the a-arm? if they are in properly start cutting 1/4 coil at a time until you get the ride height you want.
i think the driver side index is off , thus giving me the higher number on that side , but im thinking the struts are the wrong combo for me , will the adjustables help ?also should i take the rubber boot off the top of the spring? im not to good with suspension , but i am with ls1 swaps .
The shocks and struts shouldn't be controlling your ride height. The springs are what should be controlling the ride height. If you lighten the car the ride height will raise up a bit. So a little bit of a raise after a LS1 install isn't uncommon. But if its raised up like you are describing then you definately have a problem. Since the springs need to be re-seated for a strut install, I suspect a problem with the indexing as xpndbl3 has stated. I would recommend you re-index the springs, drive it around the block a few times, and let it sit overnight. Then see how it looks. If its still too high of a ride height for your tastes you might want to consider a different set of springs in the front. Don't forget to get an alignment after you work these problems out.
well i learned out two things today , im an idiot , and how to install springs right side up. the car looks much better , but i feel it needs to be a little lower . should i cut a little of the spirng? or will that comprimise anything .

When we first finished swapping the motor into my Monte, even with new Eibachs it seemed to sit too high. After a few months tho, it settled out and sits great. If I were you, I'd drive it for a few weeks and let it settle for a while before you start cutting the springs.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
I just installed my 383, with aluminum heads, headers and HSR intake. We first put in my WS6 springs, and the car sat about the same height as yours (about 5 inches). Then, they checked the index and it looked right. Then we replaced the springs with the original soft ride springs. It still sits about 4 inches too high. Could my struts be bad? I don't think I took THAT much weight off the car, or did I?

My ls1 brought my car up a good amount too, i'm runing coil overs which are supposed to be a 2 inch drop at its lowest setting, and i'm running a tad higher then ride height with them.
