For pure winter tires i have always read that the Blizzaks were the best. If your looking for a good all season tire that you can also drive in the snow then i've always had good luck with BFG KDWS

blizzaks or the new dunlop snow tires I liked even more honestly and I've had those and pirellis before and the dunlops were the best for chicago winters.

I have the Dunlop Graspic DS-2, in Philly, PA. We were just hit with 14 inches, and slow plow response. Every side street was a mess, but these tires performed great. If I rolled onto the accelerator the tires hooked in the snow. And braking is fantastic. I did a stomp test from 20mph, and the car just dug in and stopped. They are also great in the rain. Dry weather, you know they're winter tires, from a stop, they brake loose under half throttle.
All in all, I feel comfortable riding in any winter weather with these tires.

well really i would be looking for more of a all seaon tire, i won't really be able to store tires in the summer, i will be living in a dorm and space will be limited, so what tire would be a good all season tire that would still be good in the snow? also people told me to get a thinner tire than i have now. i have 145/50/16 now..

I've been driving an '03 Impalla for the last three years with Goodyear Eagle sumthins (235/?/16) and they have been great in every weather. HOWEVER, after three years and only about 30,000, the treads are worn and the tires have to be replaced.
