I, Like many others on here, think the GTA crosslace rims are awesome, but want a 17 or 18" rim for my car.

I was wondering if anyone had ever approached a wheel manufacturer about it. Once the centers are programmed in, it would be pretty simple to make them in any widths and offsets needed (two-piece rims).

Maybe if we got a group buy together?

The same holds true for those awesome-looking Z06 rims. Can you imagine how they'd look with the correct offset for our cars, so they actually have a lip?

hey I'm with that idea all the way, I used to have the crosslace rims but off an mibble 80's corvette TPI, the rears were 315/35ZR16 and 275/40zr 16 up front they looked pretty good cause they gave my car a really wide stance from the rear.

Thanks,
Eric

you can get wheels very similar to the gta's in 17's, but they are quite expensive. About $2000 a set.

It has been tried before. Everyone loves the idea until you ask for people to send in deposits. Without a lot of capital investment, it won't work.

FYI, BBS makes several lace wheel designs that resemble or are close to the gta style. They even made an almost exact replica of the gta wheels in the 80's. i have seen several Corvette's with them on.

I would have loved to find some.

Found a place that can widen the rim, but not increase the diameter.

On the 88 Formula I've had the following:
16" Formula wheels
16" GTA wheels
16" ARE Wheels
17/18 C5 wheels
18/18 Z06 Wheels
and right now I have 2 sets of 17" ZR1's, one set with street tires and the other with race rubber.

My 86 Trans Am had the following:
15" Camaro wheels (came on teh car that way)
15" aftermarket S10 wheels
16" GTA wheels
17" 97 WS6 wheels
17" OZ Monte Carlos
16" 95 Formula wheels
15" American Racing wheels
16" 87 Formula wheels

Most of the wheels I bought were purchased since I needed tires and the prices were too good to turn down.
example, 17/18 C5 wheels with nearly new Nitto 555's and Kumho 712's for $325. Ran them on the car for a couple of months and then sold them for $500 since I found the Z06's for $350, but the Z06's needed tires and just stuck out a bit too much on the rear, so I sold those as well. If I had been running a 3rd gen rear then I would have kept the Z06's and ran a thinner bolt on spacer but since I have the LS1 rear, there was nothing I could do short of having the axles and axle tubes shortened, which is probably expensive.

man, i think you need to see if there's medication for that wheel fetish, it must be expensive!

I personally like the Z06 wheels on your car the best. I wish someone made them in offsets for our cars. I know you can get them to fit with adapters, but it's the look that concerns me more than the fit. I want LIPS on my wheels!

Do you know what style they are? I've looked all over the BBS site, but don't see them.

They are from a company called Image.

Billet Wheels

Look for billet 85

I think that number 61 looks a bit like the Ronal firehawk rims.

Image make very good quality custom wheels.

17x9.5" Epsilon wheels. Option on the late 80's/early 90's Callaway Corvettes. Also available in other sizes (17x8, 16x9). Usually matched to body color, these were originally red. True 3-piece rims and aside from the shallow offset and bolts they are as close in design to the GTA wheel I've ever found.

Painted the correct gold color with custom center caps:

Those are awesome.

I'm assuming they're not made anymore?

Also, if they're a 3 piece rim, you could take the center and match it to any hoop you liked, couldn't you? If that's the case, then you could get any width and offset you liked, couldn't you?.

Correct, haven't been available for a while. They turn up every now and then, but usually in smaller sizes. And you are correct, if you get hoops to match up to the bolt spacing and width you can have any back space you want. I've got a 4th gen rear so I would need different hoops front and rear. Wasn't worth it to me.

Was there, at some point, an attempt to get a group purchase together to get epsilon to make the wheel again?

Not that I know of. They were made in Japan, and I've never found much info on them. I'm not even sure if Epsilon is the company or rim name!

I've been searching around, and have found a number of epsilon rims, although all the ones I've seen have been for imports. Someone also posted a phone number for the company, but it's a modem line.
