limits of stock torque arm

Just wondering where you guys found the limits of the stock torque arm to be in terms of ET, 60' etc. Trying to decide wether or not to spend the extra money on a Spohn arm or using the Hurts kit for my TH400 conversion. Car ran 112 MPH last year with some bugs that needed to be worked out so I'm expecting a few more MPH this season. So the car will be running 12.1x and dipping into the 11's in good weather. Running MT ET Radials.

always better to take the strain of the torque arm off the trans tailshaft if you can. if this is mainly a drag car, the jegs brand torque arm is nice and what i'll be buying for my camaro shortly this year. this way it doesn't matter what trans i run later down the road as it bolts to the floorpan instead of a crossmember.

If I go aftermarket, it will be the Spohn since I've got a TH400. The cost of the Hurst kit plus the Jegs arm would be the same as a Spohn floor mount arm made to fit the 400.

good luck running true duals if that's your plan with the spohn setup, my buddy has them on his firebird and there's these two "tabs" that hang down on either side which basically eliminates that type of exhaust

true duals are over rated. Not my plans.

It's probably gone faster with shorites and a good single setup than you'll go with your LT's/Duals. LT's are in the plans for next winter though, just not duals.

...11.72 on 17's w/ LT's and true duals(read: 11.72 on 17's w/ LT's and exhaust that's not worth the work....)
- An aftermarket tq arm is always worth it. I went faster with it on an all-stock TPI. Full suspension should always come first on these cars.

just cuz you've run 112 in the quarter at 12.XX doesn't mean you wouldn't be faster still having a good flowing true dual setup or a 4" mufflex with hooker long tubes and a y-pipe.

Didn't say it's not worth the work, just that I'm not going to sacrifice ground clearance. With an exhaust system hanging lower than the floor pans I'll have to grow a ******.

I could care less about running a number, it's a bracket car. My plans are LT"s with a custom Y, as I said earlier. Thanks.

A good single exhaust will make the same power as true duals, unless you're not running large enough, which is also true with duals. True duals can be had under these car, w/o ANY los of ground clearance, but not without extensive work, as I have done it.
