help with lowered car please guys!!!!!

whats up everyone. i have a big delema with my 86 iroc z. i want it as low as possible so this doesnt realy bother me but i need to figure out what i can do to make it more driver friendly. i put eibach sport lines in and it sat pretty low. but then i got spohn tubular a arms and they told me it wouldnt drop the front any but they are full of ****. i just got it all together and i have 245/45/17 tires up front and that is just barely taller then the stock 245/50/16 and i only got the car together and dropped it off the jacks in my garage and cant drive it yet and am afraid of settleing cause the tires are about 1/8 maybe 1/4 inch from touching the inner fenders and the air dam under the radiator support i can fit my fingers flat under it not much more....lol i know i cant drive it with the air dam on now. but the camaros have a over heating problem with out the air dam in. anyone do this and have problems or not. im thinking of putting another cooling fan in between the nose and the radiator to help cool it down. any advise is greatly appreciated guys

I don't have an air dam, and I don't have over heating problems. What I do have is a fan that's wired to be on. The only time it's ever overheated on me was when the fan died...

Camaro's don't really need the air dam for the cooling effect unlike the bird which needs the air dam. I too have my stock dual fans wired up on a switch, which is usually on most of the time but if I'm on the highway, 1 fan is good enough. Have any pics of the drop? I too am putting on sportlines and would like to see some results.

I just have a single fan, and one of these days I'll wire it to a switch... but when I overheated, I was doing about 70 mph so without the fan, I woulda needed the air dam I think

if your shocks or old/blown/stock then you need some new ones. This will raise the front of the car a little bit.

did you forget the spring isolaters?

How could the a-arms drop the car?
- if the spring pocket was put in lower than factory, then the car would sit lower

I remember someone esle having a problem with the new a-arms putting them too low as well. Maybe the welder jigged a piece in wrong or something.

How low was it before the new a-arms? Did you do the a-arms and springs at the same time?

Put the old a-arms on and see how much it raises the car. If its too low to drive now see if spohn will accept them as a return or maybe they can look at them and exchange them.

Sounds like you need to switch springs or a arms. Spohn a arms look like the spring pocket is a little lower, might be my imagination. And my Camaro definately get hot with out the air dam when I drive it hard. Gentle driving its ok.That definately sucks after all that work

hey guys thanks for all the input. i did have the springs on with the old a arms and it was ok but with the spohns it dropped at LEAST over 1 inch more, and yes i did not re use the insulators i used heater hose but the insulators are not to thick, i had them out with the old a arms in and the new ones did drop it alot. im not worried about how low it is it looks sweet but im worried about over heating with out the air dam. i do have pics of it but have no clue how to put them on here, if someone can tell me i will put them on for you guys to see. i also have to remove the inner fenders, the top of the tires to the inner fender might be about 1/8 inch gap......lol....and remember it hasnt settled.....lol

That is too low and you are going to be grounding out on your strut mounts and rubbing the fenderliners amost always on the littlest bumps and any kind off turning radius. you are also going to have bumpsteer and will be fighting the wheel at speed to keep the car straight.

Two choices- spring spacers, or new coilsprings

here's your car pic, I captured it from the link above.

How was the stance with the sportlines before the tubular a-arms were on it? Did the front sit much lower than the back?

I agree, you'll have issues driving it that low.

before the a arms the front still sat lower then the rear. it doesnt seem to me like the rear dropped to much. i didnt think to measure before i lowered it though..grrrr. but with the new spohn a arms i removed the rubber insulator and rapped the top coil with heater hose. the insulator isnt that thick but id say the a arms lowered at least 3/4 to an inch more. anyone know where i can find bump steers for my car. i cant find anything on them. thanks guys.
