IROC steering box help

I purchased a used quick ratio steering box and, while it is better than the RS stock box that I had, it is stiff. It is a little hard to steer, kinda stiff you know. But my old box was loose, had a dead spot in the steering feel. This one does too, I can twist the steering arm mechanism and the pitman arm does not move, but I can see the steering wheel moving. I've heard of a bolt on the steering box that may help this problem. The bolt on top is for steering feel correct? It's pretty stiff now so I don't want it any harder to turn butI want the slack out. Thanks-

Jonathon

never paid any attention to the steering box on my IROC. I did mess with the one on my 82 Blazer. There was a large nut with what looked like a stud sticking up through it on top of the steering gear box. it takes a wrench and an allen wrench to make adjustments. I don't remember all of the procedure but you were supposed to jack the wheels off the ground, disconnect the pitman arm, loosen the nut, make your adjustments (tightens up the clearances inside the gear box) by turning the "stud looking shaft" with the allen wrench, snug up the nut while keeping the shaft from turning with the allen wrench and then using a small torque wrench (inch lbs.) to test the adjustment. Not having a pitman arm puller or a small torque wrench I went the route of multiple trials and errors. I could make it sloppier but never managed to make it any tighter.
