Anyone Have BFG Tires?
I gotta get tires for my new camaro because its still got the original tires on it and they're pretty dryrotted. I think i have decided on BFG g-force KDWS because they have a good treadwear rating (400), great traction ratings (AA) and a good temeperature rating (A). It also seems to do fairly well in the tests and its from a well known company. First all of, does anyone have any experience with these tires? If you have a negative opinion on them, please explain why, and reccommend something else... I know alot of people are going to recommend kumhos or some good but inexpensive tire like that, but the car is going to sit for a few months each winter and i dont want to deal with the flatspots, and i also have heard of sidewall problems on some of the cheaper ultra high performance tires.
Also, i will be switching from 235/55's to 245/50's just because theres so many more tires availible, and i just want to make sure i wont have any problems w/ the slightly bigger tires...

I have the KDW version on my car (not a fan of all season tires on performance cars) and this is my second set. I love these tires and won't run any other brand on my Formula.

I had BFG G-Sports on my old cragars and i loved them. Great traction/handling tires and also great performance in the rain also. Only complaints is they pick up a lot of nails and they dont last very long.

I've got a set of BFG g-force KDWS on another car (not the Camaro) and love them. I know several people around the country who also have them and think highly of them. The only complaint I've heard about them is that they aren't so great in snow. No matter to me here in SoCal, but in PA it might be a consideration for you, unless you park the car during the winter.
i have the kdw all the way around. i love them and ive tried almost every brand on my car. the only ones better in my opinion are the kd instead of the kdw. the kd are just a dry weather tire the kdw are also wet weather, but the kd i had on my car and they were noticeably better then my kdw but the kd are about 120 bucks more for both rear tires and i chew them up to fast so i settled for the kdw

I'm running 245/35/18's in the KDW2.
Absolutely love them, except for the fact that they wear fairly quickly, just as any other softer compound tire, but they have got to be the dead sexiest tread ever.
BTW this is on a convertible, I have never driven these tire in rain.

I had the BFG kdw's and they had a real hard ride, were noisey, wore out quickly, and were darty at highway speeds. I now have Goodyear GS-D3's which are MUCH better. They have a softer sidewall for a better ride, but they don't give up any performance compared to the KDW's. They are more stable at speed, quieter, and stick like glue on dry and wet roads.

Well i'm choosing the KDWS over the sport because the KDWS has a higher trreadwear rating and a higher traction rating. the car will never be driven in the winter so im not concerned about poor snow/ice performance.
The only other tire im considering at the moment would be the Fuzion ZRI i think...anyone know anything about them?

Addressing the high speed comments: I've had my KDWS shod car cruising at 110~115mph and it's rock steady. This in a car has horrid aerodynamics (can you say "brick"?). I've also hot lapped at Buttonwillow Raceway and they were fantastic! They are a very different tire than the KDW.

Within my own experience, about once per set of tires a situation will develop in which tire grip means everything, and nothing else matters.
Fuzion Z's are apparently fairly decent tires, but I think they might be more sensitive to inflation pressure than some. At least that was my son's experience with them on a new beetle (slight overinflation ==> corded tread centers).
Late edit to add comment about BFG g-Sports. They have decent cornering grip, and decent grip for acceleration. Just not both together. You have to get your turning done before you give it much throttle - even 3rd gear on a dry on-ramp can be asking too much of them. Or just go drifting with them.

I have the KDW's on their now and hate them. The ride is horrible and they wear out very quickly. I will be going back to my Firestones when These are finally done. + They are horrible at the track. So hard, that their is little traction.

I have 295/35R-18 KDW's on my rear wheels and if I step on the gas hard in 2nd gear and make a sharp turn, the tires will growl a bit but not kick out. They are 295's though.

KDW vs KDWS - don't bother with the s's - the kdw's rode better, handled better, and over all were a much better tires in my book... of course they SUCKED in the snow, but the KDWS's weren't hardly worth it in the snow either...
As for wear, i went past 35k on both sets of kdw's i had - and that included autocross time...

I like the KDW's and the KDWS, have used both, and used them both in the snow. Honestly it doesnt make much of a difference in the snow it just sucks no matter what LOL. I usualy got around 15-30k out of them depending on my driving habits(older i got more they lasted, go figure LOL).
But anyways if you are looking for a all season tire they are a great tire, if you arnt goign to drive it in the snow then take a look at the Goodyear F1 GSD-3 they are a great tire too.

I ended up ordering the KDWS's from discounttiredirect. I'll let you guys know my thoughts on them when i get them mounted. Honestly though, i can hardly tell the difference after new tires get put on cars...but ill give you guys my impressions.

little FYI, the Traction Rating is for stopping on wet ground, not for dry traction acceleration.
I would get the KDW or Nitto 555, I've ran both and like both.
