centerlink

so the current rebuild is going well, finally got the inner and outer tie rods off. now im stuck trying to get the centerlink. im assuming it should just pop off like the tie rods did with a lil bit of force. the centerlink is tempermental like the tie rods. does anyone have suggestion for its removal?

Rent or buy the pickle-forks from your auto parts store to pop it free.

How did you pop off the tie rods?

Whenever I remove tie rods or any other suspension component like that, I hit the piece that the socket pin goes through. For the tie rod, you don't hit the tie rod at all but hit the side of the steering arm that the tie rod end goes into. The tapered pin will pop right out. Same thing for the center link attached to the idler arm and pitman arm. Hit the side of the pitman arm right beside the hole for the center link. Same thing for the idler arm. Use a big hammer and don't be afraid to hit it. If it still doesn't pop off, get a pickle fork.
