I also have an 82 Z with the B&M adapter for the T-350 and my bracket worked fine. I also ordered the energy susp. poly bushing for the t/a and that also worked . The bracket just slides in and then clamp the t/a and then just bolt the bracket to the B&M adapter. Maybe post pics of the bracket.

You don't need the bigger bracket (the one that bolts to the tranny)
Just need a new bushing and use the smaller out bracket. You will need to grind off the welds as the B&M should have supplied two bolts that will go through those holes from the old bracket to the bracket supplied from B&M.

the outer shell of the t/a bushing (the one without the long welded bolt) use this piece. There should be two like "L" shaped tabs on this..and you slide this in the t/a from b&M and then line up the bolt holes on the bottom. See if that helps.....

One thing that should be noted here. GM used three different versions of clamshell brackets for the torque arm over 82-92. The good news is they were year specific, so early 3rd gens had one style, mid year's had another, and late model's had another style. Try a search to find more information, I think there's a few pics floating around. Sometimes with these Torque Arm kits you don't know what year clamshell brackets B&M or Hurst or whatever was using for R&D. When I installed a Hurst kit on my 89 for TH350 swap it didnt work with the bracket I had. Had to drill holes. Custom. Hehehe!!
