crappy launches

Hey guys....I got a problem launching. I power brake to about 1000 rpms and then i dump the brake and gas it. Before I put the intake mods on my car, I didnt have much of a problem hooking up. Now I hear three chirps before I start moving. Am I launching my car wrong or do I need some suspension upgrades? My buddy said he can sell me his edelbrock torque arm for like 100 bux. Please help thanks

try less throttle, but if you're running street tires at the track you'll never hook up to your potential.

- the tq arm is the 2nd to last thing to upgrade. Subframe connectors, the lca relocates, then lca's, then tq arm, then panhard(largely depending on application) - Try launching a little softer. Upgrades mean more power, thus making it easier to spin the tires.
also, if you do a search, you'll find some reasons you may not want to even try an edelbrock tq arm......

whoa, 3 chirps? Not one long chirp, but three... That sounds like wheelhop -> LCA'RB's.
Yea, don't worry about a torque arm yet.

I'd say to try replacing your old warn out LCA bushings with poly first.

screw replacing the bushing you can get some lakewood tubular lcas with poly bushings for like 88 bucks, they took away all my wheelhop, and they even helped both tires turn over when the posi unit was worn out

So you are saying give it like 3/4 throttle instead of full? Also do you give it less throttle all the way thru first gear or after a certain mph go ahead and floor it? thanks alot guys

So after what speed should I start to floor it after I get rolling?

I think you will have to figure that out with practice. Posi rear and a good set of tires will make a world of difference. If its not your daily driver I would get a set of drag radials. If its a T-top car then definately get the subframe connecters. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck

With a little practice you can learn to roll into the throttle. Try coutning out 1 second for starters and if there i no spin try a little faster. Maybe try starting out from an idle. Good luck.

Every car launches differently. There's no mystical perfect throttle percentage, suspension angle, etc.... - Trial and error.
W/o a posi and decent tires, you will always have traction issues. You may be able to get it to not spin, but then you'll be leaving softer, thus going slower.

Try leaving at an idle...try leaving at 750, instead of 1000...try rolling into the throttle...trial and error. -

- I do agree that it you're getting several chirps, not one, that you have a wheel hop problem that should be addressed before something gets broken....
