Spohn adjustable torque arm is on

finished up my torque arm installation a few days ago. right after i tore the TPI down to replace gaskets to fix an oil leak. lol

anyway, i'm very pleased with the build quality of the torque arm. i got the adjustable arm with DS loop. everything was bolt in, fit was good. there isnt much room under there and the tolerances on that torque arm were good. clearance on everything was fine, although it was very close in some spots. that just shows quality of the fabrication of that spohn piece.

i got it all bolted on without too much problems. replaced the trans mount with the poly piece that spohn sells as well.

set pinion angle to around -1.5 degrees and took it for a drive the last 2 days. it seems to be good. trans mount is solid and no more bumping around like before. i have better street traction now as well. i'm very happy with that.

its kinda noisey tho...it moves around under there abit with that sliding/pivoting front mount. i left that bottom mount loose like it says so it will move around some. i'm guessing it is workin as it should. i'll have to recheck all the bolts and make sure they are snug everywhere before i take it to the track to see if i gain anything. problem is, i am goin back to school now, and have to wait till october to race again when they move test and tune to saturday afternoons instead of wednesday nights. but i'm expecting some gain as the new trans mount will keep the torque arm planted. when i went to track last time, i pulled a 1.80 60 foot but the trans mount was starting to go bad and moved on me alittle. thus hurting traction. i'm hoping for mid 1.7's

i'll try and get some pics uploaded here shortly.

I've had Steve's torque arm on my Z for about 18 months now. I am still impressed when I climb under the car. This piece is a work of art.

I like that arm. I have their driveshaft loop with a stock arm, but i think maybe this winter i will switch over to that setup.

Cool that it fits with no problems.. is that a stock driveshaft?

true, it angles downward some....but my exhaust is still the lowest point..it sags at the cat area. so to me, its no big difference over stock as far as driveability is concerned. i've taken it to a few bumpy roads and have had no problems yet.

and yes, its the stock driveshaft.

after viewing many posts like this, ive fully decided on getting a Spohn TQ. arm for my 87 IROC,

my current, stock one is ok, but the trans bushing is split down the middle, causing the rear end to pop around when shifting under heavy acceleration... thats bad...

the spohn one looks real nice, and from waht i've heard preforms great.. especially bieng adjustable

ive jsut heard a few times that poly-bushing make a lot of noise,, but thats ok when uve got a good exhaust and sound system i guesss

nice tq arm man, im glad to hear that it went in easy for u. ill be getting the exact same one, with the D.S. loop too

shouldn't the driveshaft be more centered in the driveshaft hoop? in the pic it looks as if is very close to the top of the hoop.......

it should be, but it has room to play. it cant get any closer else it will contact the torque arm itself.
