How critical is it to have the strut to knuckle bolts torqued properly?
Hi guys, I bought a pair of Spohn's fabbed strut mounts, retainers and strut to steering knuckle bolts for a 1991 Chevy Camaro Z28. I had these installed at an alignment shop because I didn't have the time and the tools to install them myself. I forgot to send them the instructions with the parts.
Now, how critical is it for the strut to knuckle bolts to be torqued properly. According to Spohn's instructions they should be torqued at 148 ft. lbs. What happens if it exceeds 148 ft. lbs.? Will my steering knuckle be damaged or will the fasteners break? Please let me know right away. Oh, by the way I did a search and nothing on the subject matter. Thanks.

Tighten them to the proper spec.
Reason being the strut could move on the spindle otherwise.
Better being safe, than sorry.
