WS6?

Ive got an 87 trans am and im not sure if its got the ws6 package or not. It has the snowflake style rims and there are 16 inches. It also sais performance suspension on the dashpad inside the car. I heard that you could only get 16s with the ws6. Anybody know if ive got it or not?

depends on the year

the earlier ws6 didnt come with 16"

i dont know if 87 did though- but i know in 85 there wasnt any 16" yet

look for rear disc brakes

thas the first big thing the WS6 had

and also quick steering

and larger sway bars

etc.

what does your RPO sticker say ?

Like Fast68 said, disc brakes, larger sway bars, and check RPO sticker if its still attatched inside of your console compartment. One of the codes will say WS6 if it is one.

Nope, my 88 Firebird Formula has the WS6 RPO code and drum rear brakes. Or I should say HAD rear drums. I've since converted to rear disc brakes.

My 86 Trans Am WS6 had 9 bolt w/ Discs while both of my Formula's, 88 and 90 both had 10 bolts w/ drums, the 90 was an open rear as well.

i got a 86 trans am with rear disks and it had the performance sticker on the dash, the only way to really tell would be the RPO codes on the inside of the arm rest pad, that would be the easiest, orrrr u could just find a 350TPI like my 87 formula 350 TPI bc they all come stock wit all the good stuff!! lol. i actually ripped up the carpet this past summer to replace it and i found the ORIGINAL ORDER SHEET FOR MY CAR from the factory under the carpet under the driver seat, it had all the codes for everything my car came wit, the plant number and place, paint, interior, drivetrain, engine, suspenstion, to each spec of the front and rear shocks etc... even the plant and dates it was made on and the car dealer that it was sold to, to the interior parts and who installed them! crazzzzy!! maybe u could find that lol

My parts car ('91 Formy WS6) had the WS6 package, 16inch wheels, and rear drums. It has the 36mm front sway bar. Just not too sure on the rear bar, though. Would it be 24mm?

it depends...they used diff sizes on the cars for all years and it doesnt really matter wat performance package they have on them, some WS6's had the small rear sway bar and some had the larger one, i guess mine since its a stock350tpi that mine came with everything including the largest sway bars...since the really put everything into them as there fastest car. the only way to tell would be to measure the rear sway bar by using an energy suspension cut out ruler etc or a micrometer etc...

I need to go find the micrometer....or get the wrench set out. That'd work. I kinda wish it was the 22mm. I need a smaller rear bar.
