tire sizes ?

im purchasing some 16x8 stock rims from 1985 to complete my restoration on my 85 trans am and i was wondering what was the widest i could put on the rear and on the front i love how agressive third gens look with super wide tires so whats my limit on those wheels i tend to go as wide as i can in the rear and same goes for the front...if anyone has any pics it would be a big help!

thanks!

Moved, tire/wheel fitment sizing questions belong in the suspension/chassis section.

Well, since 255 is the widest size you can buy for a 16" wheel, and also the widest that will properly fit a 8" wide wheel, that about sums it up.

The only wider sizes available are in specialty race compound tires....other than bfg rad t/a's, which won't hook as well as decent 255's.

- search, then post(if needed after search), this info has been posted many times, which is why you're not getting many responses.

For your resto project, I strongly recommend P245/50R16s.

On some cars, the 255 tire will rub at the front positions.
