Need some advice choosing shocks

Okay well I've found ebay might be a good place to get them because it seems their a bit cheaper than most other websites. These are all complete sets struts plus shocks. I'm looking to do some road racing and occasional drag racing. I want to keep the tires on the ground no matter what.

Tokico Illuminas adjustable

KYB AGX adjustable
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-A...QQcmdZViewItem

Bilstein HD, non-adjustable
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BILST...QQcmdZViewItem

Koni Yellows, I assume they are adjustable doesn't say exactly
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KONI-...QQcmdZViewItem

Koni Reds, whats the difference between the these and the yellows?

I got KYB AGX's from Summit. Love Em. I noticed they really tightened up the car. A lot of guys here don't like them though.

If your gonna be aggressive on the street, Koni yellows rock. I haven't done autocross yet. But for ripping up the back roads, I put my rears on the 1st de-tent from softest. And the fronts are about 1/2 turn from softest. And I am amazed at what the car will do!!!!

Although my buddy has the Tokicos and loves em, and I like the way his car handles too, so go with the best ones you can afford.

I went with Koni Reds since my Camaro is a daily driver. I ride around with them all the way up and the car handles great. I have a hard time believing that Yellows offer a significant advantage over the reds for street driving. However since you are road racing you will probably want to get the best you can as you will be pushing the car to it's limit.

I want to get the Red's but with my slim income and my driving habits (occasional hard driving, generally mild) I'll probably just go with KYB's for now. Later on when I'm making more money, I'll swap them for whatever I decide to do with my car (drag shocks if strip car, Koni's if auto-x). Hope that helps with your decision some. Being a college kid I assume you don't have a lot of $$$ to play around with...

yea im a college kid too, those bad boys are gona really set u back lol if u also consider ur other suspension upgrades expect a couple grand. inorder to really take advantage of those koni/blisten shocks u need good springs, and all the suspension upgrades, panhard rod, LCA's, SFC, poly everything, wonderbar, strut tower brace, swaybars perhaps etc etc.

these cars love upgrades, theres alot of controversy on shocks and springs for these cars. alot of ppl have the kyb's and lowering springs and they can take to the corners and due extremely well. they also say that since there all nitrogen gas shocks why pay more for the better ones if ur not gona use them for what there designed for. im not nockin the more $ shocks either, i kno the big diff is quality and nitrogen pressure. so just pick on how spirited ur driving is. im sure im gona get what i wanted from my 180$ shocks and being a daily driver in NJ i wanted softer than the blistens/koni's. i'll prob upgrade down the road depending on what i want to do. so choose well

^^^ Exactly. I live in a suburban neighborhood with more craters on the roads than the darkside of the moon. I only hit the twisties a couple times a month, and when I do I'll encounter a dump truck going half the limit in front of me. I don't have the money for all those other upgrades and bug buck shocks/struts are way out of my budget.

$690 for the Bilsteins?... wow. I bought the fronts for $180 a piece and the rears were $90 a piece brand new at the local parts store. same part numbers as the ones above.

Ya I'm aiming for the Konis but i'm going to call some places around my area to see if I can get them cheaper. Bilsteins, I dont know what the hell that seller is thinking, this is why I dont use ebay very often.

I decided i'd go with the Tokico Illuminas just because I dont think I need the best of the best shocks right now, but I still need ones that are pretty good. Plus I'll be saving like $150 to go to other suspension parts.

KONIs from Hotpart.com. $663.60 shipped for all four. Got em, love em.
Wish I'd known about the ones from eBay before, though.
For what it's worth, the Yellows are more aggressivly valved and are more sport oriented than the reds. Can go much stiffer than the reds.

Are you positive they were the same shock? Where did you pick them up for that price?
