Convertible boot solenoid
Convertible boot solenoid
Hi, I purchased my 3rd gen last year. At the end of the summer I had a situation. Me & the wife took the car on a road trip to Amish Country, and when I went to put the top up the swith to the boot would not release it. I looked for a manual realease and could not find one.
I have 2 questions.
1 - where is the solenoid located for this & can't you buy them at your local car part store?
2 - Is there suppose to be a manual release in case of something like this happening? If so where is it located?
Thanks for you help.

Re: Convertible boot solenoid
You probably blew the accessory fues if the release button doesn't work. That's what my 90 is doing on a regular basis right now.
The manual release is located behing the seat backs. Just fold them down and there are wire loops on both sides of the back seat that you pull to release the cover.

Re: Convertible boot solenoid
I could accept that but the weird thing is, the next day it worked. It seems that when it is hot outside & I drive the car for a while it does this. But after I let it set for a while it starts working again.
