Hitting bumps HARD

Hitting bumps HARD

i just got a 91 camaro from a buddy of mine, and the thing his bumps HARD AS HELL. Like the whole car shakes violently when hitting even the slightest bumps.

is this just a tight suspension? or a bad one? hope to hear some suggestions

From what you describe it sounds like the suspension needs work. My guess would be that some bushings are shot. You can visually inspect them as best as possible, but this kind of thing is kind of hard to troubleshoot easily. Kind of hard to replicate the forces needed to show failure. I would drive the car in different situations and guage the feel/sound. Does only the front bump hard? Or only the rear?

Crazy's right. Something else to consider: You don't mention how many miles are on the car, but the struts and shocks may well be toast, perhaps the springs as well.

Take it to an alignment shop. Tell them you want to know everything wrong on your suspension. They will check it and give you a list of everthing needing replaced. It only cost me $19.99 to get it done. Then you will know exactly what needs to be replaced.
