Panhard bar hits my new aluminum rear end girdle.
I just swapped out ALL of my rear suspension components except for the panhard bar... I also did a rearend swap while I was at it. I swapped from a nonposi 2.73 to a posi 4.11 both are 10 bolts except the 4.11 was built to hold horsepower as suggested from the tech articles. PROBLEM is that the new Aluminum cover has the 2 bolts that stick out a little to far in the middle and it hits the panhard bar. My temporary solution was to grind away on the panhard bar where it hits, i only ground out about an 1/8th of an inch and it seems fine now BUT I wanted to get an aftermarket panhard bar. I am pretty sure that this is going to cause a problem... any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dennis

any tubular panhard bar will be fine and smaller in diameter than the stock counterpart

an aftermarket panhard bar will be tubular and therefore smaller
You shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks guys, That is what i was worried about.
Do you suggest and adjustable one if the rearend is already centered with the stock length bar? I dont see any reason to get an adjustable one if its already centered but please inform me if there are other benefits...

My car is auctually already lowered and it is still centered. I do plan on however installing a Spohn Tq arm but i dont see why that should have anything to do with centering the rear.

the torque arm doesn't but the panhard does.

That is what I am saying, Do I need an adjustable panhard bar if the car is already lowered and the rearend is already centered with the stock bar? I NEED to get a new panhard bar anyway, I am just deciding wether to get it adjustable or not because of the difference in money.

Re: Panhard bar hits my new aluminum rear end girdle.
My car is lowered using Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Measuring the rims to check side-to-side and my rear is centred within 1/16". No need for an adjustable PHB. It will be the same in your case. Lowering the car SHOULD cause the rear end to shift to the drivers side enough to require an adjustable phb due to the decrease in the angle of the PHB. However, real world shows that until you've actually lowered the car and taken the measurements you won't know for certain if you need an adjustble PHB. Thank your luck that you don't need one and spend the savings somewhere else.

i dont know how much your car is lowered, but i put sportlines on mine and the rear moved quite a bit, so i had to use an adjustable panhard to line things back up, i guess if the rear is centered, there is no reason to buy an adjustable bar.

Aftermarket Panhard bars are a waste of money. Just weld in a tubing piece to your stock one, or simply box it. $10 vs how much for an aftermarket one?
After boxing or tubing (or both) your stocker, the 1/8" you ground off (I'm guessing the lip?") will be of no concern.

I'd get an adjustable just in case in the future you might need it. It's not that big of a price difference, heck the lakewood one is under $100

I agree, if your spending the money for an aftermarket one go adjustable then youll never have to buy another one again.

Get an adj... Just because in the future you will have the adjustability.
HOWEVER... here is some food for thought. I have a 12-bolt and the cover with the cap supports. The jamb nuts and little studs that stick out clear my spohn panhard bar no problem. NOW my cover hits the panhard bar brace alittle bit. I havent messed with it to see if I could shift the brace alittle toward the back of the car...but it has pretty much clearanced itself by now. Made a hell of a bang for a few miles then went away.
Just FYI... With the smaller rear it might not be an issue. But just check it out.
