I did alot of searching on here and nothing I found really applies to the issue I'm having. I got new tires on the back of my car on Wednesday (235/60/15 Road Huggers), still running the stock 215/65/15 up front. I've replaced almost all of my suspension in the past few months: tie rods (inner/outer), idler arm, wheel bearings, shocks/struts, all sway bar links/bushings, etc.... Since I've replaced everything my car has been extremely tight in corners. But, on the way home after getting the new tires it feels like the back of the car sways back and forth real bad around corners. I've been under the car for the past few days checking and rechecking everything and it's all tight and nothing is bent. Has anybody else experieced this or know how to fix it? I hate the way this feels. I'm at my wit's end.

 

Well, when I go to work on a problem, one of my first questions is always "What's changed?". You already know the answer to that question, so now you can work to confirm it. I'd temporarily swap the front tires with the rear -take a good look at the rears while they're off- & (carefully!!) drive down the same roads where you've had the problem. If the rear doesn't sway any longer, but you discover an entirely NEW handling issue, I'd probably conclude that there's something wrong with the tires, the balancing or maybe how they were mounted.

I say it's just the design of the tires. Most tires out there are designed to ride like a caddy and dampen out as much road noise as possible. Swapping front to rear like V* said will let you know if it's the tires. If it hasn't been too long you may be able to take the tires back and raise enough of a stink to get them to replace them with another brand of tire.

In 15" sizes I've always had good luck with BFG radial t/a's. The actuall traction isn't all that great but they have an insert in the sidewall that gives them some decent sidwall support.

 

I had a set of mis-matched tires on my Iroc when I bought it (front/rear). Out on the highway it was a little squirrely but that changed when I put all of the same tire on the car then it handled better. maybe that's what's happened to you.
