replacement springs
I want to get new springs to replace my worn out stockers. I want better handling from then without having to drop ride height, so Eibachs are out of the question. There are too many places I tear up the front of the car anyways as is.
I found these and wondered if they are stock replacements and are there 2 or just 2. front or back/both. I noticed too that they are progressive:

Re: replacement springs
My buddy has an '89 RS 2.8 as well and we're putting the basic KYB GR-2/Gas-A-Just package in the car and I'm trying to decide what springs to have him buy. His stock 140k mile V6 springs feel VERY soft to me, but the softest car suspension I've been driving in the last few years was a 80k-mile WS6 spring package.
We can get the Moog 5662 front springs and whatever the corresponding rear part number is for like $110+tax at Autozone. Does anyone have any comments as to how well the KYB shocks/struts be able to control those springs for a daily driver (zero track time)?

Re: replacement springs
I'm just worried on these lighter V6 cars that the replacement IROC springs might be too stiff.

Re: replacement springs
They will be stiffer of course. The front will sit a little higher than the V8 cars since they are made to take on the extra weight, if anything the V6 will handle better than the V8s b/c of weight.

Re: replacement springs
Right....I'm worried about them being too stiff for a daily driver. If it were my car, I'd do it, but its not my car.. I'm thinking the Moog 5658 or 5660 springs would be good choices instead. They are both stiffer than the stock V6 springs, but not as stiff as the 5662. The 5658 should sit about 1/2" lower than the 5662 springs would, and the 5660 springs about 1/4" it seems.
For the rears, I think we're going to look into the 5665's or just a pair of springs off a V8 82-02 car. I'm sure someone in the local club must have some laying around. I threw all mine out from my '88 WS6 and my '98 Z when I upgraded them

I'll just run IROC springs then, not to mention they are pretty affordable.

Re: replacement springs
I've got a busted spring in my V6 ( just found it a week ago ) and after much research I have found that not all V6 springs are the same. I've found no less than 5 different Codes on the front springs from V6 cars and the books point to more than that.
The V6 Spring I took from a 91 RS seems to stand about 5 inches higher than a Stock Z28 front Spring when removed from the car - but I KNOW it will hold the car lower to the ground than the Z28 spring when it's installed.
I have never driven a V6 car with V8 springs - but I have driven a converted V8 with V6 Springs. The nose "floats" all over the place and it's very unsafe at high speeds. I can only assume that the equal & opposite reaction from driving a V6 on V8 springs would make the ride VERY harsh. Adding NEW struts into the project will probably only multiply the effect.
I have decided to use a spring from a car that is as close to my configuration as possible since I plan to replace only one. ( V6, 5 speed, Non-AC - & I've already found the donor ! ) BUT - If I were forced to replace the pair I would ONLY replace them with a pair made for a V6 !
Good Luck !!!
