Adjustable torque arm question
I was wondering if I can use my poly transmission mount and adjust the torque arm angle to compensate for the height change.
I bought an energy suspension mount and a prothane mount, both caused vibrations. I got my driveshaft balanced recently, and I installed a t56 rubber mount, but first I tried the prothane. There are no vibrations now, but the first time I nailed second I heard a horrible sound, and the mount ripped. thanks

Re: Adjustable torque arm question
hmm thats weird. have u checked the pinon angle? if u lowered the car theres no doubt that its off and thats gona cause some probs. the adjustable tq arm will help fix the pinon angle and dont forget a magnetic angle finder.
u cant just adjust it with the bushing. and theres no diff between the prothane and energy suspension both are poly, the only diff is the black vs the colored bushings cuz the black are impregnated with graphite... to aid in squeek dampning.
idk how u ripped the mount tho....

Re: Adjustable torque arm question
My car isn't lowered, and on the spohn website for the prothane mount it says it will not throw off the d/s angle like other poly mounts.
I broke the rubber t56 mount the first time I banged second, and one for a turbo diesel truck also.
I might just buy a torque arm relocation kit, but for that price I might buy a new torque arm, with a crossmember.
I'm pretty sure the answer to my question is common sense, but I just wanted to check. It makes sense that if the front angle is off you can compensate for it by adjusting the rear. thanks

Re: Adjustable torque arm question
1. Someone here chained the end of the torque arm to the x-member to limit how much it could rise up.
2. Weld a piece of bar stock across the top of the stock mount so that the rubber can't pop out. You probably can do this to one of your bad ones if it's just the rubber popped out.

Re: Adjustable torque arm question
I know they're going to vibrate more, but this isn't normal it is bad if you were in the car you'd understand.
I might chain it down, but I don't know how i'd do it properly. I don't have a welder.
I just want to know if I buy an adjustable torque arm can I make the vibrationi disappear or at least better.
I might try another t56 mount, because I noticed I installed it 180 degrees off, it seems like it would be better if I rotated it.
thanks

Re: Adjustable torque arm question
Turns out I had a 4l60e mount not a t56 mount, i'm going to try it without a chain, and see if that works. If not i'll chain it down.
